Work Arrangement:
This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Warren Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday each week, at minimum.
The Role:
This position is for a Senior Service Programming System Field Action Engineer in the Global Service Programming Systems (SPS) Team. The goal of our team is to work with a wide variety of data and systems, to enable dealership technicians around the globe to successfully program customer vehicles.
At a high level, this is accomplished by working globally and cross-functionally to gather and implement all service programming requirements for each vehicle platform, by comprehending manufacturing data and engineering releases in order to deliver the right content for each unique vehicle, and by working to ensure our customers have the tools and capability to repair and reprogram their vehicles as needed.
What You’ll Do:
Serve as single point contact for Field Action SPS support
Attend weekly OIR/SFADA meetings and reviews
Provide execution readiness status to the GM FA Execution Lead/Bulletin Coordinator
Identify and address roadblocks to completion
Work cross-functionally with OIR Investigators to proactively get information needed for SPS implementation
Review Field Action bulletin prior to publication and provide feedback to author.
Provide feedback on VIN population to GM FA Exec. Lead, as to VINs to remove (already programmed with remedy parts) or need to be added to VIN population.
Develop and maintain Field Action documentation and processes
Collect OIR/SFADA information for a field action involving SPS
Investigate SPS data support for FA VIN population and identify actions items to be completed.
Document SPS implementation of remedy parts
Maintain SPS Field Action SharePoint for tracking
Maintain process documentation and desk procedures
Work Cross-functionally on field action execution efforts
Communicate the upfront details on upcoming field actions with Data Engineers and Vehicles Systems Engineers
Assure all readiness actions are completed
Assist with roadblocks / escalate concerns
Coordinate with FA Bulletin Team for validation of remedy
Author FA Labor Codes in SPS Database for warranty analysis claim verification
Support special projects related to Service Programming
Work with GM applications such as: Engineering Change Management System (ECM), Global Product Description System (GPDS), Soft Part Release (SPR), Global Vehicle Safety (GVS Core)
Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications):
5 years of experience in an analytical or diagnostic position
Experience in one of the following areas: diagnostic test modes/services and messages used for vehicle diagnostics and reprogramming, serial data communications and monitoring tools for all vehicle protocols, prior automotive service or engineering experience.
High level oral and written communication skills
Adept analytical ability where problems are unusual and difficult
Dexterous interpersonal skills involving ability to work effectively cross-functionally and cross-culturally.
Ability to function with limited direction, or in autonomous situations
Strong attention to detail
Team Player, with excellent organization and communication skills
What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):
Bachelor Science in Technical discipline
Understanding and capability to work with databases and query tools such as SQL and Oracle
Knowledge and understanding of General Motors Engineering Release systems (ECM, GPDS, APM, SPR, etc.)
