Overview: The Senior Manager, UI Software Engineering is responsible for determining product strategy and applying knowledge of software architecture to manage tasks associated with developing, debugging and designing software applications, operating systems and databases according to provided design specifications in collaboration with product teams. Oversees the enhancement of existing software architecture and suggests improvements to the architecture. Manages a team of Software Engineers that design, develop, troubleshoot and debug programs for databases, applications, tools, and networks.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work with Product Management to define, scope and prioritize features for major, minor & cumulative patch releases;
  • Manage team(s) of global resources to deliver major, minor and cumulative patch releases;
  • Manage all aspects of the development life cycle; project management, design, design review, code, code review, unit test, QA planning, test case design, development & execution;
  • Manage a direct team of resources across U.S. and offshore office. Management includes quarterly objective setting & reviews, annual review, mentoring in support of team members assigned engineering program work;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalons policies, procedures and mission statement;
  • Adhere to all confidentiality and HIPAA requirements as outlined within Inovalons Operating Policies and Procedures in all ways and at all times with respect to any aspect of the data handled or services rendered in the undertaking of the position;
  • Fulfill those responsibilities and/or duties that may be reasonably provided by Inovalon for the purpose of achieving operational and financial success of the Company;
  • Maintain compliance with Inovalons policies, procedures and mission statement;

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum of 5 years experience as a Software Engineer;
  • Minimum of 2 year of management experience;
  • Adepts in at least 1 programing language, deep technical expertise in one vertical technical area, domain expertise at the module level, and expertise in one operating system;
  • Repeated experience delivering enterprise class software in a global development model;
  • Experience with Agile development methodology (prefer SCRUM) and project planning, estimation & tracking;
  • Strong development background with Java technologies and Spring;
  • Solid understanding n-tier/service based architecture;
  • Extensive experience with SQL, DB deployment and optimization (preferably SQL Server);
  • Solid understanding of Linux environment;
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Self-motivated with strong organizational/prioritization skills;
  • Ability to multi-task with close attention to detail;
  • Health care IT is preferred;
  • SAAS development, deployment & monitoring is preferred;
  • AWS is preferred; and
  • Virtual infrastructure (VMWare) is preferred.

Education:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or science; and
  • Masters degree is preferred.

Physical Demands and Work Environment:

  • Sedentary work (i.e. sitting for long periods of time);
  • Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force;
  • Frequently or constantly to lift, carry push, pull or otherwise move objects and repetitive motions;
  • Subject to inside environmental conditions; and
  • Travel for this position is expected to be less than 10%.
