Behavioral Tech, BT -Part-time, Full-Time

A Behavioral Technician works with individuals, often children or adolescents, who have developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), or behavioral challenges. They implement behavior intervention plans under the supervision of a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) or other licensed professionals to promote positive behavior, skill development, and independence.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Implement Behavior Plans: Deliver individualized interventions based on Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) principles to address behavioral goals.
  • Data Collection: Record and track client progress through detailed observations and data entry to monitor the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Skill Development: Teach communication, social, and daily living skills through structured activities and reinforcement strategies.
  • Behavior Management: Use techniques like positive reinforcement, redirection, or de-escalation to manage challenging behaviors.
  • Client Interaction: Build rapport with clients and families, fostering a supportive environment for learning and growth.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with BCBAs, therapists, educators, and families to ensure consistency in interventions.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate session notes, reports, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Training: Participate in ongoing training to stay updated on ABA techniques and best practices.
Qualifications:
  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent (minimum); associates or bachelors degree in psychology, education, or related field preferred.
  • Certification: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification often required or obtained within a specified period (involves 40-hour training and competency assessment).
  • Experience: Prior experience with children, individuals with disabilities, or in ABA therapy is a plus but not always required.
  • Skills:
    • Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain consistency.
    • Strong observation and data-recording skills.
    • Physical stamina for active sessions and managing challenging behaviors.
