Permit Technician Assistant (Limited Duration, ends June 30, 2026)
The City of Tigards Community Development Department is seeking a Permit Technician Assistant. This is a limited duration position- assignment ends on June 30, 2026. This position will provide backup for existing staff to work through changes following a major software conversion. The successful candidate will be trained in many aspects of permit intake and issuance in a professional office setting . The successful candidate will be trained in many aspects of permit intake and issuance in a professional office setting.The ideal candidate will have a well-rounded background in building permitting and tracking. Customer service experience in a professional office setting and software database management experience are highly desirable. Examples of DutiesResponsible for a wide variety of tasks including scanning, permit intake, permit routing and customer service via email, telephone and in-person. Works with a diverse group of internal and external customers to support a dynamic permitting experience for the citizens of Tigard. Provide backup so other Tigard staff will be available to work on a major software conversion for up to three years. Other duties, as assigned.
Minimum QualificationsAny combination of training and experience, which would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be: Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND One (1) year of varied technical, clerical or paraprofessional support experience in a municipal or county building, engineering, or planning department or equivalent private sector experience.
