Trade Compliance Manager

  • Manage a team of export/import specialists.
  • Perform general management responsibilities such as hiring, performance management, performance reviews, individual development activities, etc. of team
  • Monitor and provide support to ensure compliance with trade rules and regulations and on-time delivery of imported products.
  • Ensure export documentation meets US export laws.
  • Partner with Global Trade Compliance staff across multiple country projects.
  • Serve as main point of contact for trade compliance for the United States.
  • Liaison with US CBP and other partner agencies to resolve export/import issues as they arise.
  • Manage post entry audits to ensure that proper value, classification, and other required information is transmitted, and when necessary, take the appropriate corrective actions.
  • Identify potential trade compliance risks, evaluate impact and develop strategies to mitigate the risks effectively.
  • Manage in performing analysis of broker, customs, and data to ensure maximum cost savings in Free Trade Agreements, and other duty exemptions.
  • Represent Trade compliance interests in supply chain, manufacturing, new product development, new market development and commercial initiatives.
  • Lead the export/import compliance program for US.
  • Monitor of Export controls, Embargo sanctions and to clear Denied Party screening holds.
  • Ensuring correct application of customs regulations in terms of valuation, tariff classification, ECCN classification and country of origin (preferential and non-preferential).
  • Assist the Global Trade Compliance team with development and delivery of trade compliance program globally.
  • Lead in development and implementation of policies, procedures, manuals and other related compliance documentation for the US.
  • Will assist with other special projects and day to day operations tied to US export/import trade compliance.
  • Keep up to date on export/import regulations that could impact CSI trade flows.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • 8 years of experience in US import export compliance, including import entry process, Customs and other related government, HS, import material classification, valuation, recordkeeping etc. with 3 years of managing teams.
  • Excellent managerial skill set.
  • Education: Bachelors degree in relevant field.
  • Customs Brokerage license strongly preferred.
  • Experience working with medical device companies preferred.
  • Experience in setting up Export Compliance programs.
  • Experience maintaining trade master data in ERP systems and related databases.
  • Experience in maintaining positive relationships with internal customers and external vendors and consultants.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Manage, mentoring and developing of teams.
  • Strong computer skills are required with expertise in MS Office Suite such as Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel as well as other internet applications.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and interpersonal skills are required to communicate and interact across all functions and levels within the company. 
  • Must have the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of trade compliance regulations and requirements.
  • Solid organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and to work independently with minimum supervision.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical with demonstrated problem-solving skills.
  • Understanding of the sensitivity around confidential company information.
  • Willing to learn and adapt to a changing environment.
  • Must possess the ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English.

Education:

  • Associate degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
  • Bachelors degree preferred.
