Director of Student Financial Services
The Director of Student Financial Services is responsible for overseeing the Financial Aid and Student Accounts functions of Fresno Pacific University in one unified department. This position oversees the administration of the institutional, private, federal, and state financial aid programs of the University in a manner consistent with the Universitys mission and in accordance with legal and regulatory guidelines and within budgetary limits. The Director is responsible for analysis and recommendation for development of financial aid programs and processes for all programs of the University to achieve institutional enrollment and financial aid goals. The Director sustains institutional financial aid compliance with regulations of affiliated organizations such as the Department of Education, the California Student Aid Commission, and NCAA Division II. This position is responsible for overseeing and implementing organizational policies and procedures related to financial aid and student accounts that create an effective and student-centered department.
Essential FunctionsOversee the administration of institutional, private, federal, and state financial aid programs
Oversee the effective operation of Student Accounts
Sustain institutional financial aid and student account compliance with regulations of affiliated organizations such as the Department of Education, the California Student Aid Commission, accreditors and NCAA Division II.
Create and maintain institutionally effective and student-centered policies and procedures related to financial aid and student accounts
Oversee the awarding and distribution of scholarships in coordination with Advancement and the University Foundation
Supervise and provide for the training and development of a diverse staff
Participate in Enrollment Management leadership to develop a healthy enrollment team
Communicate with university stakeholders as well as internal and external constituencies about financial aid programs, requirements and opportunities.
Develop a Student Financial Services office that facilitates the success of students and their families through education, clarity, support and advocacy.
Participate in community presentations about Financial Aid and Student Accounts, including occasional evening and weekend events.
Budgetary oversight for the Student Financial Services department
Coordination with Business Office regarding current and non-current accounts and receivables
Oversight of and collaboration with SFS Associate Directors to sustain a healthy office culture in the midst of serving an often stressed and anxious customer base
Oversight of annual audits both internally and through the Department of Education

Required:
Bachelors degree
5 years experience with financial systems, including the development, administration, and analysis of financial, accounting, or financial aid systems and outcomes
3 years experience overseeing professional staff
Strong communication skills, verbally and in writing
Customer service orientation
Solutions-oriented, systems thinking
Computer applications expertise (database, spreadsheets, and word processing)
Ability to interact with people in a warm, professional manner
Demonstrated organizational capabilities, detail orientation and the ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
Preferred:
Masters degree
Familiarity or experience in financial aid leveraging and net revenue enrollment planning
Experience in a college or university setting
Bilingual/second language/Spanish fluency
Accounting experience or course work
Experience with loan processes
Experience with Federal, State and NCAA Division II regulations and compliance
Experience with Ellucian Colleague software
Environmental Conditions:
Indoors in a normal office environment with little exposure to excessive noise, dust, fumes, vibrations, and temperature changes at least eighty percent (80%) of the time.
Frequent computer use at a workstation, up to eight hours per day.
Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
Drive personal or University vehicles to appointments.
Public contact position requiring professional apparel, personal hygiene, and grooming.
Physical Demands:
This position typically functions indoors in an office environment with light to moderate noise associated with business office equipment. The position may involve travel for meetings and events.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to: remain in a stationary position 80 % of the time, be able to move about inside the office to access file cabinets/office machinery etc., operate a computer and keyboard and other office productivity machinery such as calculators/copy machines/printers. The employee is occasionally required to position self to reach items on the floor and in high cabinetry.
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Employee must be able to communicate with others to exchange information including both over the telephone and in-person communication with callers and community members and be able to read a computer screen and paper documents.

$70,000.00 to $100,000.00 is the annual salary for this role and reflects what Fresno Pacific University reasonably expects to pay for this position. Actual compensation may vary based on the qualifications, experience, and internal equity. In addition to compensation, FPU offers a competitive benefits package.
