Salary pay rate: $22.68 - $34.01 hourly

Basic Function and Responsibility :

Assist in performing responsible, complex accounting work in the maintenance of circuit court financial records, transactions, financial reporting, and internal controls.

Appointing Authority and Supervision Received :

The chief financial officer is the appointing authority. The accountant receives direct supervision by the assistant director of the department.

Characteristic and Assigned Duties : ( The following duties are representative of the position and do not include all duties which may be performed.)

Reconciles bank statements, maintains general ledger account data, related financial transactions.

Prepares monthly fee disbursement reports.

Monitor the process for requesting purchases by comparison to the budget.

Works with staff to assure proper recording of financial records.

Assist with preparation of monthly financial reporting.

Monitor compliance with purchasing policy.

Assists with reviewing and reporting the status of court accounts and other financial services monthly and as otherwise directed.

Assists the director in the coordination of the yearly audit and regular review of court finances.

Assists managing delinquent land tax financial processes.

Assists with compiling and auditing P-Card supporting documents.

Assists with petty cash and gift card processing.

Processes account payable transactions applying coding within the budget.

Prepares responses to requests for information as directed by the director.

Provides support to court committees as directed by the director.

Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities :

Knowledge of accepted practices for all court-related budgeting, banking, investments, financial management and reporting aspects.

Knowledge of court operations and policies.

Ability to apply financial principles and specialized knowledge related to court needs.

Ability to professionally report court financial and operational information in written form and oral presentations.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with the judiciary, court administration, and other stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and one year of experience in financial accounting.
