Administrative Assistant

Shoal Creek Podiatry (Dr. Frank Cherpack) is a small, friendly office that focuses on excellent patient care in a very personalized/caring manner. This is in effect our brand. The office is only open Monday through Friday 9-5 and closed on the major holidays. The office uses electronic medical records. However, we do outsource our billing. We are looking for a professional, intelligent, energetic and friendly individual with a strong work ethic who is both personable and affable. You must be able to concentrate and complete tasks quickly and efficiently. Since we only have one other employee that works part-time, you must be dedicated and reliable. You must be able to work well with others and accept constructive criticism. Experience in a medical office is extremely beneficial.

You will:

  • Handle calls to the practice, including patient calls with consistent appropriate phone etiquette.
  • Schedule patient appointments, record their reason for visit and obtain insurance information
  • Verify insurance information and benefits for all new patients prior to their appointment. Review insurance benefits with patient as needed. Update patient insurance as indicated.
  • Greet patients in friendly and professional manner and provide excellent service.
  • Check patients in and have them fill out appropriate paperwork
  • Contact patients to confirm appointments one day prior to visit as a courtesy reminder
  • Assist with referrals such as radiology.
  • Insure that charge slips are filled out for every patient daily
  • Maintain patient records in billing/scheduling system.
  • Perform simple bookkeeping such as collecting all patient balances and co-pays, and post accurately.
  • Patient data entry into the EMR (Practice Fusion): name, address, medications, allergies and pharmacy information.
  • Scan documents into the EMR daily w/ NEAT scanner
  • Administrative support of Dr. Cherpack (hospital credentialing, ordering supplies, surgery scheduling, etc.)
  • Assist with internal marketing
  • Copying, faxing and emailing
  • Light cleaning
  • Keep the office tidy and professional looking throughout day.

Our ideal candidate will have: * Excellent phone and people skills

  • 1+ years of experience in a healthcare setting
  • Medical Office experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience answering phones/customer service
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Caring and warm personality with sense of humor.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour
