Associate Claims
Job Details:
Summary
The primary responsibility for the investigation, evaluation, and resolution of claims.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conducting a prompt investigation into the facts of a claim.
- Documenting findings in the Claims System.
- Providing prompt notification and recovery, ensuring reimbursement to the proper business unit.
- Setting timely and accurate reserves and revisiting those reserves in a timely manner.
- Executing requests for payments of invoices and ensuring proper and timely delivery of payments to vendors.
- Managing outside vendors such as independent adjusters and claims auditors.
- Communicating with Tyson outside counsel, district and state attorneys offices, and circuit clerks.
- Managing tasks through an automated diary within the Claims System.
This position will also assist adjusters with:
- Verifying the accuracy of the information collected and submitted for payment of service invoices and settlement checks.
- Executing requests for payments to vendors and claimants.
- Auditing legal invoices to ensure compliance with Tyson Litigation Guidelines.
- Collaborating with other claims administrator positions and assisting when needed.
- Ensuring compliance with all department guidelines and SOX requirements.
- Handling any other duties or special projects assigned.
Requirements
Education:
- High School education or the equivalent is required.
- Higher education through an accredited college, vocational school, or specialized training in an industry-related field is preferred, or equivalent work experience.
Experience:
- 3 plus years of clerical office experience is preferred.
Computer Skills:
- Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Previous experience with claims software is preferred but not necessary.
Communication Skills:
- Must have good verbal and written communication skills.
Special Skills:
- Strong negotiation and organizational skills.
- Self-motivated and the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Supervisory:
- None.
Travel:
- 5 or more-day trips as needed.

- This position does not offer reimbursement for interview expenses and/or relocation assistance.
