Senior SEC Financial Reporting Accountant Dallas, TX - hybrid, 3 days onsite
Vaco has a rare opening for one of our Fortune 500 clients on the financial reporting team that they are looking to fill ASAP located in highly-demanded North Dallas area.
This is for a long-time client of ours and will be part of a great culture (people rarely leave the company!) Aside from traditional SEC reporting duties (putting the filings together, drafting footnotes, disclosures, earnings releases, etc.) Accountants will be tasked with Lease Accounting including preparing the 842 schedules, lease contracts/amendments asset and liability positions and preparing the monthly entries.

Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and file quarterly (10-Q), annual (10-K), and other SEC reports (8-K, S-1, S-3, etc.) in compliance with SEC and U.S. GAAP requirements.
- Coordinate with external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits.
- Research and analyze complex accounting issues; prepare technical accounting memos as needed
- Research, interpret, and implement new accounting standards (e.g., ASC 842, ASC 606, ASC 326) and communicate their impact to internal stakeholders.
- Monitor new accounting pronouncements and SEC developments; assess and communicate potential impact to the organization.
- Support the preparation of earnings releases and investor relations materials.
- Maintain and update XBRL tagging for financial statements and footnotes.
- Collaborate with internal departments (legal, investor relations, FP&A) to ensure accurate and complete disclosure in filings
- Assist in the development and implementation of internal controls over financial reporting (SOX compliance).
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA license preferred.
- 2-5 years of experience in public accounting (Big 4 or national firm preferred) or in a public company reporting role.
- Hands-on experience with SEC filings and financial statement preparation.
- Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP, SEC reporting requirements, and SOX compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with Workiva, Wdesk, or similar SEC reporting software a plus.
