Assistant Director West River Area Health Education Center

Position Description
  • This is a grant funded position. The grant will run through August 31, 2027. At that time, the grant may be refunded. This position reports to the West River Area Health Education Center Director.
The Assistant Director is responsible for developing and implementing high quality healthcare career education programming and working closely with the WR AHEC Director to assist in the implementation of strategic plans to meet the WR AHEC Mission, Vision, and Values. This employee will monitor the status of projects in a fiscally responsible manner to meet specific grant and programmatic requirements while ensuring all federal, state, and local laws are observed. Working Conditions This is a full-time position and most of the work to be performed will be done in a normal office environment. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 8:00a.m. to 5:00p.m. This position will require minimal evenings and weekend hours as necessary for special events. Employee may be exposed to communicable diseases when working in a healthcare environment. Physical Demands The duties of this position are primarily sedentary in nature; however, the employee is required to walk, use hands to handle objects, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, talk and hear. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Position Essential Duties

1. Maintain positive relationships with WDTC staff and other WRAHEC partner organizations. 2. Tracking of the Work Plan outlined in the South Dakota AHEC and West River AHEC grants.

  • Communicate on a regular basis with the WR AHEC Director, WR AHEC Program Coordinator, SDAHEC Program Office, WRAHEC Board of Directors, BHSU-RC partners, and WDTC partners.
  • Monitor WRAHEC Strategic Plan progress to measure and ensure that milestones are met as outlined.
3. Develop, implement, and review high-quality programs, services, and activities that meet individual and group goals:
  • Healthcare Career Guidance
  • K-12 Programming
  • Healthcare Careers Camps
  • Community Engagement
  • AHEC Scholars
  • Implement other grants as applicable
4. Responsible for key business functions:
  • Coordinates resources across various projects and programs.
  • Grantmanagement and recording to include tracking, modifying, and filing grant reports and outcomes.
  • Assist in identifying and applying for applicable grant opportunities for current and future planned programming
5. Designs and coordinates advertising and marketing materials to include:
  • Creation and distribution of electronic, Quarterly Newsletter
  • Maintain robust social media marketing calendar (on WRAHEC Facebook)
  • Website updates as needed
  • Other promotional and print items as needed
Qualifications
  • Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or related field and at least 3 years relevant work experience or commensurate experience/education.
  • A commitment to the Mission and Strategic Plan of the West River Area Health Education Center as well as the Vision and Values of Western Dakota Technical College.
  • Demonstrated Grant experience, and Program Development and Implementation experience.
  • Employee must maintain a current SD drivers license and possess current vehicle liability insurance.

  • Demonstrated skills in confidentiality when dealing with all stakeholders.
