Corporate Services Manager
Main purpose of job:
The British Embassy, Panama City is part of a worldwide network, representing British political, economic and consular interests overseas.
The British Embassy in Panama is looking to recruit a new Corporate Services Manager who will be central to the smooth-running and effective leadership of the Embassy. The successful candidate will lead, manage, and guide the Corporate Services Team, and contribute as a senior member of the Embassy leadership team.
The successful candidate will support the Ambassador and Deputy Head of Mission through management and oversight of the Corporate Services Teams operational and corporate roles responsible for finance, human resources, estates, IT, security, transport, protocol and wellbeing. They will provide financial analysis for all high-level decisions, providing recommendations based on accurate data in compliance with FCDO Policy and local labour law. They will support all staff and families of UK-based staff, in the Embassy and in the Ambassadors Residence.
The ideal candidate will bring financial, estates and human resources leadership and management experience. They will have an accurate eye for detail while being able to see and advise on the bigger picture. They will have the ability to work well as a member of a team and independently.
Roles and responsibilities:
Embassy work is constantly shifting to adapt with changing priorities. The following outline of responsibilities serves as a guide for the role. However, the successful candidate must be flexible to take on other areas of work as required.
- Finance and Business Management - Working with the Financial Officer, ensure use of the Embassys budgets is effective, appropriate and well-controlled. Ensure budget forecasting and analysis is well-planned and accurate throughout the year.
- Estates and Support to UK Based Staff - Ensure all Embassy offices and residential accommodation are managed effectively, are well maintained and comply with all necessary health and safety and security requirements.
- Security - Oversee security matters in the Embassy and the work of the Post Security Manager.
- Human Resources - Oversee all aspects of recruitment, pay and allowances, terms and conditions, appraisals, induction, training and development for Country-Based Staff.
- Embassy Life - Contribute as a senior member of the Embassys leadership team to the life and wellbeing of the Embassy.
Resources managed (staff and expenditure):
Direct line management of two Executive Officers, management of the Corporate Services Team and oversight of the posts budget.
