Director of Fundraising
Benefits Annual Salary: £57,000 to £62,000 (3 to 5 days per week, pro rata as relevant) Leave Entitlement: 25 days and 8 bank holidays (+ your birthday off + 1 additional day per year of service up to 5 days) Training and Development (CPD): £1000 per year Company Pension Death in Service Insurance Cover Well-being and Company Events Health benefits package Responsibilities and Duties The Director of Fundraising will develop and implement a comprehensive multi-year fundraising strategy that encompasses diverse income streams, working collaboratively with senior leadership to coordinate efforts and maintain an up-to-date fundraising pipeline. Key responsibilities include stewarding high-value relationships with trusts, foundations, and corporate partners while leading grant applications and proposals for six-figure funding opportunities. The role involves strategic positioning for statutory funding by identifying government contract opportunities and ensuring the organisation remains competitive for local authority and national funding programmes.
Additionally, the Director will oversee critical systems and processes including financial reporting, grant management cycles, board reporting, and line management duties while serving as an external ambassador for the organisation. Strategy and Leadership Develop and drive a multi-year fundraising strategy to support the organisations growth ambitions. To include a mix of both existing and new income streams and the resources needed to reach the goals.
Work with the CEO, Director of Partnerships, Grant Manager and Business Development Officer to implement the strategy in a coordinated and effective way. Take ownership of the fundraising pipeline, keeping it up to date on Salesforce CRM in collaboration with other staff members. Lead on fortnightly Business Development meetings to keep everyone aligned and updated.
Lead on the development of new income streams, such as Government procurement opportunities and individual donations. Collaborate with senior leadership to ensure alignment between income generation and programme delivery Work closely with the Board of Trustees to build networks and opportunities Trusts and foundations Work closely with the CEO to steward relationships and lead on applications for 6-figure plus, multi-year grants, contracts and donations. Work with the Grant Manager to write and submit grant applications to trusts and foundations, providing support and advice.
Corporate and Partnerships Work with the Director of Partnerships to write and submit proposals and applications for corporate foundations, Charity of the Year and other CSR initiatives. Work alongside the Partnership Director and other appropriate team members to continue build and steward partnerships with relevant organisations, particularly those that support our three-year strategy.
Work with Director of Partnerships to develop individual giving and legacy giving income streams Statutory funding Ensure Sister System are up to date on the potential avenues for statutory funding, are administratively prepared for tendering processes and bids, and maintain the ability to actively review potential opportunities. Identify and achieve activities to become Haringeys (and other appropriate boroughs) preferred provider for services and adhere to framework agreements. Identify the opportunities and activities needed to build and maintain SSs position to be at the forefront of the GLAs and Governments 5-year plan for young people and Looked
After Children. Work with the Business Development Officer to apply for local government contracts and procurement opportunities. Systems and processes Work with Director of Operations and Finance Officer to maintain accurate financial record keeping and reporting processes.
Manage relationships with awarding bodies as discussed and agreed with CEO and Director of Partnerships. Support Director of Operations to draft annual budget. Present updates on fundraising progress at board meetings - via board papers and joining the meetings.
Manage the funder reporting cycle and supporting systems - including submitting high quality annual and quarterly reports in a timely manner, with support from the Impact Manager and Director of Operations. Oversee and quality check reports submitted by other team members that hold key funder relationships. Other generic duties Line managing a small team.
Attend external meetings and events as required. To ensure all relevant paperwork and persons are notified and completed in accordance with Sister Systems processes. To ensure all policies and procedures in relation to record keeping, administration of information sharing and keeping and safeguarding are adhered to.
To aid the smooth running of the organisation. To act as an ambassador for Sister System, promoting the work of the charity and supporting its aims and mission. Essential Skills, knowledge, and behaviours: Proven track record of developing and delivering successful fundraising strategies at a senior level.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding income targets across multiple income streams. Experience managing multiple income streams, including statutory income, individual, corporate, and grant fundraising Strong leadership and people management skills with experience developing high-performing teams Excellent relationship-building skills with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders Financial acumen, including budgeting, reporting, and performance analysis Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including bid writing and donor presentations Strategic thinker with a proactive, innovative, and resilient approach Knowledge of fundraising regulation, GDPR, and best practice in supporter stewardship Interview Timelines Applications are open from 14th JulyInterviews will be conducted on a rolling basis, so we may close to applications if we find a suitable candidate earlier in the process.
