HSEQ Project Advisor

The HSEQ Project Advisor will report directly to the HSEQ Project Manager and will be responsible for supporting the companys Health, Safety, Environment, and Quality (HSEQ) management systems and programs across all its activities. This is a hands-on role that requires a practical, motivated, proactive, and detail-oriented individual who is committed to maintaining the highest standards of safety and quality. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HSEQ management and experience in the maritime industry.

This role is located at our Fort Lauderdale office, with frequent travel to our facilities and offices, both nationally and internationally.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of the companys HSEQ policies and procedures in accordance with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and best practices.
  • Conduct regular inspections, audits, risk assessments, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate potential HSEQ hazards.
  • Partner with various departments to identify and facilitate opportunities for safety improvement.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to business segments on HSEQ matters.
  • Deployable to various company locations, facilities, and business segments for extended periods to support compliance in accordance with local and governmental regulations, particularly those related to occupational health and safety, and environmental protection.
  • Conduct incident investigations and root cause analyses, and provide recommendations for corrective and preventive actions to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Develop and deliver health, safety, and environmental training to employees as needed.
  • Reinforce safety culture, hazard awareness, and environmental stewardship, by promoting active employee engagement with HSEQ department goals.
  • Monitor and report on HSEQ performance, identify trends, and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Manage and maintain the companys HSEQ documentation system to ensure compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements, including the timely and accurate reporting of incidents, near-misses, and non-conformances.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal stakeholders, clients, regulatory authorities, and industry associations on HSEQ matters.
  • Participate in audits and inspections, both internal and external, to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Support the development and maintenance of emergency response plans and procedures.
  • Support the HSEQ department initiatives throughout all phases and drive continuous improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelors degree in occupational health and safety, environmental management, or a related field or technical discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a related HSEQ role or equivalent, preferably in the maritime, shipyard, offshore, or oil and gas industries.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of HSEQ regulations, standards, and best practices, such as OSHA, EPA, DOT, USCG, IMO, ILO, and/or international equivalents.
  • Experience in writing Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to take a practical approach in identifying and mitigating risks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with stakeholders at all levels and provide support.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience in conducting audits and inspections and developing corrective and preventive action plans.
  • Knowledge of incident investigation and root cause analysis techniques.
  • Ability to lead and facilitate training sessions.
  • Proficient in working with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook), including statistical analysis using Excel, at an intermediate to advanced level.
  • Willingness for up to 35% travel to various company locations and work outside normal business hours as required.

Travel Requirement:

Up to 35% travel should be expected. If additional travel is required beyond the specified amount, based on the operational demand, you will be notified accordingly so arrangements can be made.
