Patient Account Specialist

We are seeking a full-time Patient Account Specialist to assist the billing department at our family medicine clinic. We need someone who has a strong attention to detail, computer skills, interpersonal skills, and analytical thinking. This is an onsite position. This position is Monday - Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm.

Responsibilities

· Manage patient collection accounts

· Contact patients about past due accounts

· Follow-up on claims through inbound and outbound phone calls, e-mail and website to resolve unpaid or denied insurance claims

· Know the basics of Medical insurance - copays, deductibles, co-insurance etc.

· Process and post insurance payments to patient account

· Answer incoming phone calls from patients or insurance company

· Help answer patient inquiries regarding their account and take payment

· Set up payment plans

· Abide by HIPAA laws and maintaining confidentiality

· Other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience in a medical billing and coding

· Experience with EHR system

· Professional phone and communication skills

· Excellent attention to detail and able to multi-task

· Proficiency in use of computers, spreadsheets and EHR
