Referral Specialist

This position is Monday - Friday, no call, holidays or weekends. Job Summary

The Referral Specialist is responsible for ensuring all daily authorizations are obtained by coordinating and monitoring work queues. This role will identify STATS and problematic authorizations prior to procedure/surgery dates to avoid denials. This position requires excellent customer service to OrthoVirginia staff, physicians and patients, as well as the ability to listen, process, and communicate clearly and effectively.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities

• Ensures all daily authorizations are obtained
• Coordinates and monitors work queues
• Identifies STATS and problematic authorizations before procedure/surgery date to avoid denials
• Other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to multi-task
• Requires excellent customer service to OrthoVirginia staff, physicians and patients
• The ability to listen, process, and communicate is imperative to exceed caller expectations

Preferred Job Requirements

• 4 years insurance verification and precertification experience
• Strong customer service skills and focus
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Some college preferred
