Startup Community Operations Associate New

Techstars is hiring a Startup Community Operations Associate based in Tuscaloosa or nearby to support the delivery of Startup Community programs in partnership with Tuscaloosa County Economic Development Authority and The University of Alabama. Over 12 months, this includes two Founder Catalyst programs and one Startup Weekend. This is a 1 year, contract role.

The Operations Associate will work under the Program Manager and will lead the execution and operations of these programs, working closely with our partner to meet shared goals. This role supports our Startup Community team, focused on expanding support for early-stage and aspiring founders.

The position involves admin and operations oversight, program timeline ownership, and coordination with stakeholders. Its customer-facing, fast-paced, and detail-driven. This is a full-time, hybrid contract role, where this role is expected to be in person for some program duties, otherwise remote. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Proactively manage multiple Startup Community programs simultaneously including planning activities, meetings and events that drive founder success 
  • Plan programs and events that meet satisfaction metrics and are executed in an efficient, accurate and swift manner
  • Coordinate the scheduling of mentors, speakers, corporate partners, founders, and sponsors in a timely and efficient way
  • Follow best practices and execute outlined content and curriculum of programs
  • Drive continuous process improvement and maximize operational efficiency to contribute to a positive experience for founders and partners
  • Represent Techstars remotely and at in-person programs and events, both actively and passively

Qualifications

  • 1-3 years in fast-paced project or program management focused position within technology, startups, entrepreneurship and/or venture capital
  • Strong interest in the discourse around startups and entrepreneurship
  • Experience creating and managing project or program timelines and plans
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure that program deliverables are executed at a high caliber, meeting the needs of founders and partners
  • Experience in event planning and event logistics
  • Comfortable with a variety of responsibilities, ambiguity and is solution driven
  • Strong communication skills (verbal, written, and visual); fosters strong relationships with entrepreneurs and corporate partners to support a thriving startup culture
  • Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
  • Founder experience is a plus! 
  • Based locally to the program in Tuscaloosa is a bonus

Compensation: $45,000 - $50,000
