Substitute Receptionist

River Oaks Baptist School is seeking applicants to fill an on-call need as a substitute for our school receptionist. This is a part-time, on-call, when needed position with no guaranteed schedule or hours.

The role of the School Receptionist is to act as the voice of the school. This position handles the telephone systems and greets and directs students, parents and visitors.

Key Responsibilities

• Answer all incoming calls. Direct calls to appropriate extension or answer general information questions
• Greet all visitors and direct them to the appropriate person or office
• Oversee check-in process for all visitors making sure they sign in and receive a nametag
• Locate students for parents, school nurse, and others as needed
• Monitor late check-ins and early checkouts
• Arrange to deliver messages to students
• Sell breakfast cards
• Request assistance from maintenance staff via walkie-talkie when needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Successful completion of background checks and verification

• Experience working in a similar position

• Ability to operate a multi-line telephone system

• Ability to handle multiple tasks

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office products such as Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required

• Able to exercise independent judgement

• The ability to communicate well with students, parents, visitors and colleagues

• Excellent people skills

• Familiarity with Outlook

• Highest ethical and confidentiality standards

• Positive team player

• A vibrant Christian faith and a desire to work in a Christian environment
