Job Title: Facilities Business Intelligence Developer Department: Facilities Management Informatics Location: Charlottesville, VA (Hybrid)

Overview: The University of Virginias Facilities Management Informatics department has an exciting opportunity for a Facilities Business Intelligence Developer. This role focuses on collecting, structuring, creating, and maintaining high-quality data related to building and infrastructure components to meet a variety of business needs. A strong understanding of information system data structures, proficiency in utilizing data systems, and the ability to analyze and present information for various audiences are essential. The ideal candidate will be proficient in computer applications and have a working knowledge of various database and software programs. Understanding the Universitys educational mission, strategic aims, and programs is crucial.

Important Notes:

  • This is a hybrid role requiring multiple days per week in the office. The selected candidate must be able to commute to Charlottesville, VA, regularly.

  • This position does not offer visa sponsorship. Candidates requiring visa sponsorship are not eligible for this role.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in cross-functional performance improvement efforts, ensuring data accuracy, quality, and availability.

  • Consult with staff at all levels to streamline business processes and contribute to high-profile organizational projects through custom reporting and data presentation.

  • Collaborate with operational subject matter experts and stakeholders on outcomes-related metrics, ensuring accurate metadata, target/threshold acquisition, appropriate metric and report development, data validation, maintenance, and modification.

  • Collect business requirements from stakeholders; design, code, validate, deploy, and maintain the semantic layer and metadata for complex reports and reporting tools, creating efficient and appropriately distributed solutions.

  • Utilize tools such as Tableau and QlikSense to build Business Intelligence solutions.

  • Develop code using Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • Adhere to team and departmental quality standards and development best practices.

  • Monitor the teams work queue, triaging requests and ensuring coverage as needed.

  • Participate in governance and Change Control-related activities, adapting to competing demands, shifting priorities, and organizational constraints.

  • Work independently under general supervision, recognizing when to request guidance.

  • Provide guidance and training to less experienced team members.

  • Train users on the application of Business Intelligence tools as needed.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Experience:

  • 4 years of relevant experience. Education may be considered in lieu of experience (e.g., Associates Degree and 2 years of relevant experience, or Bachelors Degree).

Preferred Experience:

  • Data Analysis, SQL, Development with Analytical tools such as Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI.

Additional Requirements:

  • The selected candidate will be required to complete criminal background checks prior to the start date.

Compensation Range: $70,000 - $85,000
