Job Description:
This recruitment is being advertised for a part-time position. The selected candidate will not be permitted to work more than 28 hours per week. Under general supervision, performs specialized and technical work diagnosing and repairing personal computer equipment and software for assigned City department. Work involves ensuring computer equipment and software is running properly, repairing and troubleshooting, and installing user software on new computers and the network. Employee must exercise tact and courtesy in frequent contact with system users, and employ initiative and independent judgment in completing assigned tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
Associates degree in computer science or information systems, and 1 to 2 years of experience in computer system operation; or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
Required Knowledge & Skills:
- Office 365 administration and troubleshooting
- Knowledge in building images for Windows devices
- Basic knowledge of Intune for device management
- Experience with Bomgar Remote Support tool
- Hardware troubleshooting (desktops, laptops, printers, scanners)
- Software installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
- Basic network troubleshooting (connectivity, VPN, DNS, DHCP)
- Experience with computer refresh processes (imaging, deployment)
- Strong documentation skills for IT procedures and issue resolution
- Familiarity with KACE ticketing system for IT support requests
- Understanding of VITA (Virginia Information Technologies Agency) systems
- Preferred: Previous experience working in a state government environment, Prefer experience with IT inventory accountability, reporting, and reconciliation
Knowledge in basic network troubleshooting a plus
Must have adequate communication skills and customer service
Must be physically able to operate a variety of computers and their peripheral equipment, and common office machines such as telephones, etc. Must be able to exert up to 40 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Requires a valid drivers license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Prefer Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Information Systems/Information Technology or equivalent.
Prefer experience routinely making recommendations for progressive technology initiatives.
